Unique Identification Authority of India UIDAI has now rolled out VID Virtual ID creation of Aadhaar card, where the Aadhaar users can create/generate Virtual ID for their Aadhaar number, and this Virtual ID can be used while buying a new SIM or for doing any authentication which require Aadhaar card proof, just give your VID Aadhaar Virtual ID and it just works as your Aadhaar number.

How to Generate Aadhaar Virtual ID

Go to https://uidai.gov.in/ on the bottom of the page look for Virtual ID (VID) Generator Link else see this direct link

Now enter your Aadhaar Number and Security Code present on screen.

You will receive an OTP to your registered mobile number.

Enter OTP and click on Generate VID, you can also do the above same steps for Retrieve VID incase if you forget VID.

Upon clicking Generate VID it will generate the 16 Digit Virtual ID(VID).

You can use Virtual ID wherever if some one asks Aadhaar card authentication like buying a SIM card, Opening Bank Account, Insurances etc.,
