How to Disable or Enable International Transactions on Credit Card

These days we are hearing a lot fraudulent transactions happening on credit card, do you know many international websites do not require an OTP number to transact an order. All they need is Credit card number, validity of card and CVV number.

If someone knows your credit card details then they can do a purchase easily without OTP. So if you don’t do any transaction or purchase any item on international websites regularly its always better to disable International Transaction on Credit Card. Below you can see how to Disable or Enable International Transactions on Credit Card in various Indian bank providers.

Still have doubt that one cannot do transaction without OTP?

Just go to Audible.com an Amazon company, Sign up and then go to their Audiobooks subscription(choose lowest priced like $2 or $3) for 30 days and enter credit card details and click on continue without the need of OTP you subscription will be successful. You can cancel it within 30 days to get your money back.

You can also do a successful International transaction without the need of OTP on namecheap.com as well. 🙂

How to enable or disable international transaction on HDFC Credit Card

Go to HDFC Bank Credit Card NetBanking and Login

On the left side bar look for International Enable/Disable

How to enable or disable international transaction on HDFC Credit Card

Choose the credit card you want to disable then click continue, now choose International usage disable then continue. Upon submit it says – The status of the Credit Card has been changed successfully. Your card is now de-activated for International usage.

When you want to enable also its better to keep low amount in International Usage Limit.

Disable or Enable International Usage on SBI Credit Card

If you are a State Bank of India SBI Credit card user it always better to deactivate international usage on your card as most number of fraudulent transactions happening on SBI Cards.

How to Disable or Deactivate international transactions on SBI Cards:

Log in to sbicard.com then On Left Side bar Choose My Profile

Now look for International Number Tab it will display as below,

Disable or Enable International Usage on SBI Credit Card

Update your international number to continue receiving transaction alerts and One Time Passwords (OTPs) when you are traveling abroad.

Note: For making international transactions, please ensure your card is activated. to check your card’s international usage activation status please click here.

Click on Click Here, Now You may activate or deactivate international usage on your card.

By default SBI deactivates International Transaction usage on Credit card, when you activate you need to activate International number to receive OTP’s.

How to Activate or Deactivate International transaction on American Express Credit card

If you are using American Express Credit card then there is an easy option to enable or disable International transaction.
By default your Amex card will work only in the country where you taken, if you want to use during your international trips then you need to follow few steps see below.

Login to AmericanExpress.com then go to Account Management Tab

Under Account Management go to Personal Details Section

and Choose Transfer your card to a new country of residence, upon clicking it will take you to Moving to another country Section update your travelling country and you are done.

How to disable International transactions on Citi Credit Card

As of of now at the time of writing this article I couldn’t found how to disable it, but its always better to enable Enhanced Security on your Citi Card.

Login to COBL Citi Online banking, choose Banking Tab then on Left Side bar to the bottom look for Enhanced Security it has options of OTP and Electronic Signing. Choose your option and stay secured.

Enhanced Security is like Everytime when you login to CBOL in addition to your User Id and your IPIN, you will require an OTP to Login.
